The stories of Ovid made visible through paintings and sculpture.

I have had no classical education, yet this book is perfectly accessible to me. Barolsky writes simply and clearly, illustrating stories of Greek and Roman mythology with paintings I have seen but not appreciated fully before. Now I see these works with new eyes and I have a better understanding of the meanings behind the stories. Then he links aspects of very different paintings together, often with a subtle sense of humor.
I like the way the author has described each artwork in short, headed paragraphs, making it easy to find descriptions of each piece and how they refer to the writings of Ovid. The illustrations are almost uniformly superb. The entire book is beautifully produced and a pleasure to return to.

This book has given me a new appreciation for classical themes in Renaissance art and in modern art inspired by it.

A Great Classic and Great Art

Anyone who has read Ovid's Metamorphoses and likes European painting and sculpture should take advantage of this beautiful book. The paintings, many masterpieces, illustrate the stories that Ovid tells, and the author's excellent texts enlighten the viewer/reader on the artists' purposes and methods. Well documented with paintings from all the great museums of the world, the book is a delight to read. I highly recommend it.

Option strategies for directionless markets

Before I purchased this book, I was looking for a text that would allow me to perfrom options trading in a practical manner i.e I was looking for clear description in what to look for prior to setting up trades, how to define the probability of stocks / indices hitting my target, entrance strategies, exit stratagies, rescue scenarios and soild money mangement techniques. I was also looking for examples of "real" trades that were performed. When I got the book my first impression was that it looked like and read like a school mathematics text book. There were lots of information but not much that could help me practically. The diagrams in the book are well drawn, but again they look like school book text with lots of theory. I do not think having questions at the end of every chapter were really that useful. However the chapters were well written and did provide some useful information for the novice option tarder

I think a better approach would have been to focus on three or four strategies and provide text showing how to apply these to trades starting from what to look for, probability set up, entrance and money management. Also it would have been useful to provide a chapter on how to get started, dealing with things such as virtual trading, potential brokers, charting etc.

I would have liked to see more information on guidelines to determine the best range (width) to buy (sell). Specifics on Condor corrections like when is the best time, how to determine how much correction, and alternatives. I would have liked to see ideas on "winging into condors" or adding one side at a time.

This book was written for students in the social sciences (criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, and social work) who are beginning a criminal justice internship in a public or private agency. The book focuses on many issues involved in the total internship experience, especially those related to students' personal and professional development during their internship education. A guide of this sort is important because many of my students have, over the past six years, considered their internship among the most influential experiences of their undergraduate careers. At the same time, they have reported that their regular course work provides only indirect, and generally insufficient, preparation for their initial real-world experiences. This book is designed to make the connection between academic course work and the knowledge, skills, and emotional challenges that are found in the professional world of work.

I have attempted to use the best information available from psychology, social work, and other disciplines that the interns will encounter in their various, placements. I conducted extensive literature reviews of the leading journals and textbooks in each discipline and consulted with several faculty and agency supervisors in various colleges and universities and internship placements.

Using my personal experience as an intern and my experience coordinating internship placements for hundreds of students, I designed this book to be used as an introductory text on internships that can also be a helpful resource tool for students in their work at the agencies. I am 13 and I have had this book all my life. I usally would never write in it because I didn't want to sit down and write. However there were a few times I did And all I can do is laugh so I decide that I should write in it. Well I decide to start off tellig my basic life story when I realized how much I was writing It made me think of all the good times I had as a Kid. I think that this book is good for kids of all ages expecally teen because we have our attitudes and all it is good to write things down. The book also comes with a small story and a key Which maked it exciting for all children. I love this book and would recommend it to everyone. ~Jessica~

It's Really a Secret Diary

Well, I think you should get the secret diary because when you write in it when you're a little girl or boy, and when you grow up you can read what you said, and the secret diary has a key with a lock so no one can open it except you! Also it has a little story about a little girl, and the little girl had a secret she can tell no one else. She can't even tell her Dad or her Mom or her best friend! And her Mom had a baby and the little girl's Aunt came to visit and gave her... well you find out as soon as you get the secret diary.
