But I like the way it offers written directions AND crochet maps

It has some interesting stiches, but it's the usual hash offered by any publication of its kind. There is nothing to make it stand out in a crowded market. But I like the way it offers written directions AND crochet maps. The stitches maps make learning new stitches a lot faster.

Very useful book! [2007 edition]

Great book to have on hand for inspiration. Seems well-organized to me. Has both charts and written instructions for the designs. I have made a scarf by using one repeat of pattern #21 and plan on experimenting with other designs in the book.

There are many useful designs in this book

There are many useful designs in this book. The photos are very well done and easy to follow. It is helpful that each design is complete on one page, so one does not need to flip the page over to see how the written instructions apply to the photo, etc. I have only one criticism. In order to keep each design to one page, the diagrams were often made quite small, and that makes them difficult to follow. Several solutions to that problem do come to mind, but none seems to correct the situation without bringing forward its own compromises. All in all, a very good reference book that I know I shall consult often.

This book is the first to compile and present the latest clinical strategies and offer a hands-on clinical guide to inference based therapy (IBT) for individuals with all types of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

Recent findings have shown that OCD is primarily a reasoning problem whereby people erroneously infer that there is a reason to doubt themselves despite their senses and common sense saying otherwise. In the IBT model, the obsessional doubt is considered the source of OCD and the starting point for therapy. Inference-based therapy (IBT) offers an economical model effective for all OCD subtypes and is designed to help the person regain confidence in a realistic appreciation of events and move away from an imaginary doubt.

Using cartoons and illustrations, as well as clinical examples from the full range of OCD subtypes, this book is a fully interactive manual for clinicians, practitioners, and students. The book integrates theory and application, and pays special attention to case management, detailing all stages from meeting the client and explaining the approach, right through to terminating therapy and follow-up.

About the Author
Dr Kieron O'Connor is currently the director of the Centre for research on tic and obsessional disorders at the Fernand Seguin Research Center , Louis H. Lafontaine hospital affiliated with University of Montreal. He is also professor at the University of Quebec in Outaouais. His research focuses on improving understanding and treatment of people suffering from obsessive-compulsive spectrum and related disorders. The current IBT program is a product of this research . Dr. O'Connor's publications include Behavioural Management of Tic Disorders (Wiley, 2005), and Beyond Reasonable Doubt: Reasoning Process in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (with F. Aardema & M. C. P�lissier, Wiley, 2005).

Dr Frederick Aardema is a clinical researcher at the Fernand Seguin Research Center, Louis H. Lafontaine hospital affiliated with the University of Montreal. He played a vital role in the development of the inference based approach to the treatment of OCD and his work on reasoning led to the development of an innovative theoretical approach to pure obsessional ruminations. Dr. Aardema has published widely on obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. His books include Beyond Reasonable Doubt: Reasoning Process in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (with K. P. O'Connor & M. I just feel so much healthier!!

I agree that this particular book does not explain the larger concepts of the diet as well as his other books, but I find this book the most useful of the blood type diet books because it is laid out much better. I do not follow the diet in a strict way. I try to eat more beneficial foods and avoid the avoid foods, with plenty of exceptions along the way. Eating this way, I avoided many of the discomforts of pregnancy, and I had a truly remarkable birth and recovery. Furthermore, my baby has not yet showed any signs of digestive discomfort or random fussiness. I personally attribute this level of well-being to the eat right for your baby program. When I eat too many avoid foods, I start to feel it, and then I go back to avoiding those foods more. I highly recommend this book!

I have always eaten pretty healthy, but as I hit my thirties my digestive system started to have lots of problems. As someone not interested in dieting, I first dismissed the blood type diet when my Mom began pushing it on me. But as my digestive problems got worse, I was willing to try anything to avoid taking a bunch of medicine. Loosely following the blood type diet radically changed my quality of life. I got pregnant just a couple of months later and followed it through pregnancy, especially in late pregnancy. I ate the foods recommended in preparation for labor, and the nurses and doctors were shocked at how well and quickly my body recovered. Though I agree with a number of the critiques of this book, I have now bought copies for several friends who are planning families soon.

This Book Help Guide My Pregnancy Nutrition

Obviously before I became pregnancy I followed the blood type diet. When I found out I was pregnant this book seemed like a natural choice to continue this lifestyle change. After speaking with my OB and going over the suggested foods and menus he determined that there is nothing inherently unhealthy or problematic with this diet. While many skeptics will cite the lack of scientific literature supporting the merits of the diet itself, if it has positively affected your health I would speak to a doctor to get the thumbs up. I highly recommend this book for moms who want to ensure proper nutrition for their babies.

About the Author

Paula Wolfert is an expert on Mediterranean food and the author of nine cookbooks, including The Food of Morocco, Mediterranean Clay Pot Cooking, The Slow Mediterranean Kitchen, and The Cooking of Southwest France. Wolfert has won the James Beard Award, the Julia Child Award, the M. F. K. Fisher Award, and the Tastemaker Award, and was a finalist for the André Simon Award. A regular columnist for Food & Wine, Wolfert lives in Sonoma, California.

Good for real Moroccan recipes.

After a recent trip to Morocco, I wanted to recreate some of the great, unusual food we had there. This book does not disappoint. Although I am not a "cook" and some things were fairly complicated, I could follow these recipes with ease. I ordered a large tagine online, because the ones in Morocco would not fit in my suitcase. Worth getting one for using this book for true Moroccan food.

I bought this to replace my old copy which disintegrated with age. Ms. Wolfert is an icon, detail-oriented and attentive not only to the execution of a dish, but also to the soul of the cuisine.

Excellent and thorough study of Moroccan food from a true gourmet

Every review I'd read about Ms. Wolfert's book described it as a masterpiece of Moroccan food and culture and I've found that it certainly is. I bought the book after returning from Morocco along with another Moroccan cookbook. While Ms. Wolfert's book does not have the beautiful glossy color photos like the other book, she includes a wealth of information about the culture, history and people of Morocco as well as very detailed, delicious recipies. Each one I have tried has come out better than the vast majority of the food I actually ate in Morocco! A warning to those looking for fast, easy recipies, however. Ms. Wolfert is clearly a perfectionist and a purist and does not include many short cuts or substitutions, and Moroccan food is the original "slow food". If you crave authenticity, are willing to follow her recipies closely, and willing spend many hours preparing the dishes, you'll be handsomely rewarded.

About the Author
Richard L. Daft, Ph.D., is the Brownlee O. Currey, Jr. Professor of Management and Principal Senior Lecturer in the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University, where he specializes in the study of leadership and organization theory. Dr. Daft is a fellow of the Academy of Management and has served on the editorial boards of Academy of Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, and Journal of Management Education. He was associate editor-in-chief of Organization Science and associate editor of Administrative Science Quarterly. Dr. Daft has authored or co-authored 13 books, including The Executive and the Elephant, Organization Theory and Design, and Management. He also has authored dozens of scholarly articles, papers, and chapters, and he has published in the Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management; Accounting, Organizations and Society, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, and Organizational Behavior Teaching Review. Dr. Daft has received several government research grants in organization design, organizational innovation and change, strategy implementation, and organizational information processing. An active teacher and respected consultant, Dr. Daft has served as associate dean and helped manage a start-up enterprise. For those who are interested in improving their standing within an organization and would like to hold a leadership position; this is the book for you. This book provides different leadership styles and which are the most effective in an organization; which leadership style will lead to more success than failure within an organization. The book provides details explaining how bad leadership can negatively affect an organization, especially if you hold a leadership position. There are quizzes to help you decide what style of leadership you have and stories from people in leadership positions, what they wish they knew and what they think you should know. Great book and a good resource you will use repeatedly.

Interesting Book

I rented this for one of my college classes and read a lot out of it for class. It was pretty interesting compared to some other textbooks I have had to read for class. I really enjoyed some real-life examples which can be hard to do with a texrbook. I think it's good that this textbook tries to teach information that can be used in a career instead of just teaching what you need to know to pass the class with a passing grade.

This book provided so much information based on leadership and management things that I would not have known and or considered. It provided me with information on things that I made need to change look at and view differently. Situations I will also do and it handled differently. The book covered a lot of valuable information I just wish there was a little more Dialogue on the aspect of respect and a workplace.
